Time has a way of morphing the body in ways that unflattering. When I was in college I had abs of steel, something I was proud of, but time took them away. I was never sure if I would be able to bring them back but working with Ritsuko Sonobe really made a difference. She customized my workout to focus on which part of my body was the weakest and turned it into a strength. The initial few workouts were intense and left me broken. After a few weeks, what once crushed me, became something that I can totally handle. She also altered my diet and helped me make better choices of eating with little sacrifice too (yes – I was totally against this at first because I refuse to walk around being hungry all the time but that is never the case). This improved level of fitness not only is great for my confidence (as I like the way I look) but has paid dividends in my health. As a tall guy I was prone to pulling my lower back by simply turning the wrong way. Since I strengthened those muscles I no longer need to fear lower back pain and have since improved my everyday posture. Check your ego at the door, be ready to work and the results will be waiting. I have been always small in my entire life so the weight was never been my issue. After I gave birth to my son, I started feeling constantly low-energy and sluggish but I thought that’s simply because of being a parent. 2 years later, I saw one of my old friend who looked amazing told me that she had been working with Ritsuko and that grabbed my attention. Although she is known to be a weight loss specialist, her approach to improve wellness as a whole gave me a good sense of relief so I decided to give a shot. Training itself was not something I expected and it was very gentle. I didn’t notice how much my posture was misaligned and I had chronic stiffness here and there but she fixed them within a few sessions. Now I can lift light weights without any problems. She also gave me a nutrition advise to gain healthy weight which was something I could do in my regular meal schedule. Her training is not tortuous but works so well. Feeling the muscle group that has been inactive is sometime hard but her explanation is easy to follow. Exercise habit improves my sleep and reduces my stress, which has been the reason to come back to her. I used to practice dance so I was flexible but that doesn’t mean all the muscles and joints were equally flexible. Ritsuko fixed the imbalance of my muscle strength and flexibility then taught me how to control movement so that I don’t have to bulk up wrong muscles but I can develop the muscle volume I wanted. Thanks for her advice I can apply these techniques to my own workout and enjoy training with more comfort and confidence.

Although I had some Pilates experience before I met Ritz, her session was nothing like the Pilates that I had known. She pays close attention to my body and never waste any seconds to correct my form and breathe during the session. If I need more time to repeat an exercise, she always encourage me to do so. She gives me lots of small tips to use my fingers, eyes, chin so the entire movement become more effortlessly graceful. Those tips are very useful and could be a game changer of rest of your life.
